Fat Girl Duds Alert

Beware, Bwear Be Gone

From their UK headquarters, Lady B Wear has been catering to trannies and genetic girls of girth for as long as I can remember. But sadly, this nana of the plus size lingerie and club wear world is closing its doors. But to soften the blow, shit’s on sale.

The Fit’s the Shit

Said I’d re-post when my new bigger size Substantia Jones T-shirt from CafePress.com arrived, and I’m pleased to report it’s completely b’jiggety. The feminine details – shorter sleeves, shaping (subtle, if at all), a more open neckline – are great for girl-shaped girls with girl-length arms. And the design area is much bigger than their other selections. This is not a unisex T, and I kinda miss the double-needled shoulder seams, but it maintains a classic look. And most importantly, it accommodates massive ass. I ain’t gonna give ya digits or nothin’ (pervs!), but I’ll assure you that CaféPress’ size chart is refreshingly on the nose, and my T-shirt arrived with a few inches of clearance, even. If you’re still not convinced, their return policy is as loose as a stoned stepdaughter. Downright foolish, in fact. Check out the new designs and take $5 off a $20 purchase (coupon code DUSKYPOINTS, expires 4/4/07). Then check out the new Fat Girl Fishnets T-shirt shop. (!)

Flea Bagged

The annual Fat Girl Flea Market - like the Barneys Warehouse Sale for fat girls - is looking for a new home. (The LGBT Center says no room at the inn until September, and the Flea is shooting for July.) They need a wheelchair accessible place, preferably Manhattan, at least 2000 sq. ft. for approximately $1700, and available either July 13-15 or July 21-23. A no-Sundays sitch might also be do-able.

I’m not sure it’s cool to publish the e-mail address I have for ‘em, so if you’ve some assistance or info to impart, hit me up and I’ll pass it along to the Flea Folk. Then hopefully come July, we’ll once again be sweating together, digging through the mountains of tapered jeans to find that elusive silk-lined velvet princess coat.

Grrr! After reading this I placed a large order with LadyBwear and they cancelled my order after charging my credit card! They said they sold out of the items I ordered before my order was confirmed and they will give me a refund but I had to write and ask for it. What slimeballs!

Ugh. Should be BUYER Bwear, 'cause that sure ain't no ladylike behavior. I’m awfully sorry to hear this, and I regret having touted them. I’ve been getting e-mails to this effect from others, none of whom had actually seen this refund at the time they wrote me. I’d had LadyBwear make dumb customer service mistakes with my orders over the years, but never full-out scumbag moves. Sorry I mentioned ‘em.

All I can suggest is that you watch your credit card statement closely, and hound them until a refund is issued. Fortunately everything’s been sold, so no one else will be snarled up in this.

And I’ll issue you an official Pleasure Pie Mea Culpa. Buy y’self a slice of pie. On me. No foolin’. E-mail me for details.

5 days and still no refund from LadyBWear. Do you have any suggestions?

The bastids! I totally get that Revolutionary War now.

I'd give 'em another try, asking whether it should take this long. If you're not refunded in a timely fashion, contact your credit card company and inquire about a charge-back.

Good luck.

The Managing Director of the company is a lady called Glenys Berd. Emails addressed to Glen@ladybwear.com go straight to her and not via any of the
staff. The company has a policy of being very slow with refunds, purely for cashflow reasons, and they will be as difficult as they possibly can be. They will be hoping that your contacts will give up and just let the
money go - and the courteous emails are just a way of helping that process happen.

The best way to get a speedy resolution is for your friends NOT to contact LadyBwear but to go straight to their Credit Card company. If they ring their Customer Services and explain the problem to them the CC Company
will re-credit their cards much quicker. The CC Company will also give LadyBwear a telling off and possibly fine them too. When you sign up to be a credit card merchant you agree to process refunds within a set period of
time and by delaying your friends payments LadyBWear will be breaking
their contract.

One important thing here - LadyBWear has closed down but the company that owns the label has not. The managing company is called Hamsin Limited which is still trading sucessfully. Your friends will definitely get their
money as all the companies use the same credit card account. I hate the fact they are still trading but at least it means your friends WILL get their money!!

I take back what I said about the Revolutionary War.

Hello, all. I wrote to the woman whose name was given in the post up higher in this thread (thanks!) and her response was very rude. They had cancelled my order, saying they were out of what I ordered, but it is still being sold elsewhere on the website at 3 times the price I bought it for. I think someone there made a pricing mistake and they are making their customers pay for it. That may be very poor business practice, but it cannot compare to the fact that they still took and kept my money. They gave me a date in July to expect my refund! I have filed an affidavit of fraud with my credit card company. The information here has been very helpful.
